One day I’m sure everyone will routinely collect all sorts of data about themselves. But because I’ve been interested in data for a very long time, I started doing this long ago. I actually assumed lots of other people were doing it too, but apparently they were not. And so now I have what is probably one of the world’s largest collections of personal data.

Every day—in an effort at “self awareness”—I have automated systems send me a few emails about the day before. But even though I’ve been accumulating data for years—and always meant to analyze it—I’ve never actually gotten around to doing it. But with Mathematica and the automated data analysis capabilities we just released in Wolfram|Alpha Pro, I thought now would be a good time to finally try taking a look—and to use myself as an experimental subject for studying what one might call “personal analytics”.

Impossibly tall, skinny, with the most impressive rosebud pouty lips with a distinctive gap in her front teeth, she is very distinct and yet the perfect clothes horse for the biggest fashion names in the world.

A few funny things about this image I’d like to point out to you - first it is the banal consumer items and foodstuff, choppers and lamb chop cuts that neatly invert wannabe fashion desire that adorn Action’s body; and secondly, despite the obvious pale skin, bluey ‘bear’ like features, he is actually a seriously good rhyming rapper, well respected among his (mostly black) peers. I love the little feigned modesty of his hand draped across his central chest tattoo. Thats got us all wondering what he’s shy about, I bet (?). Lastly the same guy who shot many of the models earlier also did this shoot, Terry Richardson. I think everybody that works with him, find the process revealing of themselves inspiring, whilst feeling at ease with his great unpretentiousness to capture the secrets of the everyday.

This is a link to a social psychology news site which is interesting for its tardiness; especially considering that it has been well believed for some time that this is the case to the extent it is felt that we cannot prove or disprove the causation from skinny models owing to the amount of inputs in a young woman’s world we can never be sure, but well… it figures, right? As I mentioned in an earlier post, off their own back Germany’s best selling mainstream fashion mags ‘Brigitte’ have already acted upon that belief and have stopped using under-average sized women and underage-women to represent their fashion stories. It doesn’t the likes of Mark Jacobs and his Italian counterparts.

who would’ve thought Burberry for steam punk. I have to admit with the recent Sherlock Holmes movies and low tech retro having some provenance way back in all of the major developed economies, even in japanese animé, it is not going to go away too quickly. Speaking of the Art Direction, when you see her in her civvies and you catch the androgenous form of Lily and her friend Freja on Kensington high street, it goes to show the value of having long shapeless legs on narrow hips, when contrasted with this image of her posing with layers of expensive clobber among this well heeled posse; which look like they’ll torture you at cool hand canasta.

It hadn’t occurred to me that Burberry was capable of steam punk. This was back in 2007-8 when the mind runs to tweedy woollies and the essential clodhopping wellies. Our starvling is a veteran by then p; already five years into her career. Her face doesn’t show bones or hollows, maybe she does resistance training on her head and keeps her body still? Many of the weekly gossip mags claim to know her dieting secrets (yeh right nothing to do with genetic predisposition and lashings of photoshop) so seeing ribs stick out has been popular for a long time now, despite some backlash from a few.

She has, since her first face (don’t you love fashions willingness to keep models at shallow and facile end of the business) assignment seems to have escaped full hormonal transformation into womanhood. Lily Donaldson with her fashion photographer father couldn’t have thought any future for her any more appropriate. Lost in the discussion is the fashionhouse facemakers demand for no hips, if possible no bosom to speak of and nothing in between…, say a 24in waist and 170 to 180 tall. Hear it is!
